Following his degree in electrical engineering in 1994 Kai started his career in the Automotive sector at Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart Feuerbach as a system, software, and function developer for ICE Control units.
In 1998, he accepted an offer by BMW AG to lead the team developing the E/E engine management system for BMW’s first gasoline direct-injection engine.
During his 25 years at the BMW Group, he held various management positions, such as responsibility for holistic E/E development for BMW motorcycles or the responsibility for E/E platform technologies where he pushed forward the standardization of the FlexRay networking technology and the development and deployment of AUTOSAR.
At the beginning of 2013 he became vice president for E/E integration and qualification & test.
In March 2015 Kai was appointed to head the development of electric/ electronics architectures, platform software, and automotive security.
Since 2017, Kai has been responsible for setting up the central E/E infrastructure as Vice President “Central Control Devices, Physical On-Board Network, Energy Supply” including the development of
